Video Remote Interpreting FAQs
What is VRI or video remote interpreting?
Video interpreting involves using video technology to connect users with interpreters remotely, much like a video conference. You could use Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or our very own platform, LINK.
This type of interpreting is particularly valuable for individuals who are located remotely and who require language support in settings such as healthcare, legal, education, immigration and business.
Video interpreting is also valuable when rare languages and dialects are concerned. Interpreters for those languages might live far away, and onsite assistance might therefore be unpractical and costly. Video interpreting is a great alternative to onsite interpreting because it still offers the visual cues during interpreting, which are important to the interpreter for understanding a message.
In Australia, Absolute Translations has been providing video interpreting services with our LINK platform, but also on other online meeting platforms such as described above. Our video interpreting software is a safe and dependable option for organisations and people that need translation services in a variety of languages.
Our LINK software for video interpreting has an intuitive user interface that enables smooth communication between the client and the interpreter.

Can I schedule VRI sessions in advance or request on-demand services?
One of the biggest advantages of our subscription-based platform is that our users can pre-schedule a VRI session or acquire support on demand. We recognise that our clients may have unique needs, so having both options allows us to provide as much flexibility as possible!
In case a user wants to schedule a VRI session, all the user needs to do is boot up the app, input the target language, and find the appropriate interpreter who’s available on his or her preferred date and time.
Are your interpreters certified and experienced in their fields?
Yes, all our Australian-based interpreters are NAATI certified and experienced in their field.
However, in countries such as the United States, one should note that certification is limited for medical and court interpreters. Given that interpreters serve in hundreds of languages, formal certification is not available for all language pairs.
With that said, it’s important to know that just because an interpreter isn’t certified doesn’t mean that he or she is unqualified. Our specialised interpreters meet the same professional and training requirements that are required of certified interpreters. Rest assured that our interpreters will provide timely, relevant, and accurate interpretations whenever they engage with you.
Can VRI be used for sign language interpretation?
Yes, VRI can be used to deliver sign language interpretation services. We offer video interpreting services for sign language interpretation. Whether it’s for a legal hearing or an educational seminar, our video interpreting service enables Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals to participate in various settings
What languages are available?
Based on the information from our Interpreter Hub, our vast network comprises more than 17,000 proficient interpreters who cover a wide spectrum of over 300 languages spoken worldwide.
This extensive network enables Absolute Translations to ensure a reliable connection whenever on-demand calls are made through our platform. With a subscription, rest assured that you’ll have language support at any time you require it!
What is the cost of Video Interpreting?
Video Interpreting is one of the most economical and cheapest interpreting options available for people or corporations wishing to save money.
There is no subscription fee, and the video interpreting fee varies based on the number of minutes utilised and the languages that need to be provided. Travel costs and interpreter fees associated with on-site interpreting services are not a concern with remote interpretation. This makes using remote interpreting for organisations or individuals that need to communicate in many languages a popular and useful option.
Is video interpreting confidential and secure?
Yes, VRI is secure. Video interpreters are trained to prioritise confidentiality and discretion whenever they’re interacting with clients. Moreover, they’re required to adhere to a strict set of regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the AUSIT Code of Ethics, to ensure that sensitive information is kept confidential at all times.
All video interpreters in our global Interpreter Hub are required to comply with a Code of Conduct, so rest assured that any information you provide will be kept confidential!
Is video interpreting suitable for legal, medical, or business situations?
Yes, VRI is suitable for all the mentioned settings and other scenarios with multilingual participants. Whether it’s a legal consultation, a medical emergency, or an important business meeting, video interpreting is an incredibly versatile language solution that can pave the way for effective communication.
How can I request more information?
