Absolute Translations was founded in 2004 by Veerle Vanderplasschen. Initially a one-man business it quickly established itself as a player of importance in the translation industry in Queensland. A defining moment came in 2006 when an annual turnover benchmark was reached, and Absolute Translations became incorporated in 2008.
Founded through and inspired by a passion for languages, cultures, quality of service and client satisfaction, Absolute Translations became the provider of choice for many such organisations as Bechtel Australia, Xstrata Technology, Rio Tinto Procurement and Ausenco, all of which are still Absolute Translations’ regular clients today.
Projecting into the future, Veerle only has one dream for Absolute Translations: for it to maintain its reputation of a quality language service. Client satisfaction has always been considered of paramount importance at Absolute Translations and going forward that is also what the team at Absolute will remain passionate about.
Veerle Vanderplasschen, Director
Veerle has the Belgian and Australian nationalities and relocated to Brisbane in 2003. In 2004, Veerle founded Absolute Translations and has successfully grown her business to become one of Australia’s best known translation agencies.
A NAATI Professional Translator, Veerle holds a European Masters and Bachelors degree in Translation Science for French, Spanish and Dutch. She was awarded both degrees with distinction from the prestigious Hogeschool Gent in Belgium, renowned for producing some of the best translators and interpreters in the European Union.
In addition to her translation degrees, Veerle spent several years studying Law, Hindi and Sanskrit at the Rijksuniversiteit Gent (RUG) in Belgium, and successfully completed six years of Latin and Ancient Greek in secondary education.
Veerle sits on the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators Inc. (AUSIT) QLD Committee and is also a member of various other AUSIT committees aimed at actively promoting and furthering the translation and interpreting profession.
